Legal Assistant – Dallas

We are seeking a highly organized and proactive Legal Assistant to join our litigation team.

Position Summary:

Brown Fox is seeking an experienced, detail-oriented, and proactive civil litigation Legal Assistant for the firm’s Dallas office. The ideal candidate will have at least five years of litigation experience and will provide comprehensive administrative support for our attorneys, ensuring the smooth operation of our litigation practice. This role requires strong communication skills, the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently, and a proactive team-based approach. Additionally, a working knowledge of the rules of civil procedure, and state and federal e-filing experience is required, and some knowledge of appellate procedure is preferred.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide litigation support to multiple attorneys, managing competing deadlines and priorities.
  • Assist attorneys in preparing for court proceedings, hearings, and trials.
  • Draft, review, and proofread legal documents, and create document templates, including pleadings, motions, briefs, deposition notices, subpoenas, and discovery responses and other materials.
  • Manage and organize case files, ensuring all documents are filed accurately and timely.
  • Coordinate and schedule appointments, meetings, and court appearances, as well as associated travel arrangements.
  • Communicate with clients, witnesses, and court personnel as needed.
  • Prepare and manage correspondence, expense reports and summaries, presentations and other legal documents, as needed.
  • Assist with the preparation and organization of exhibits and other related support materials for court proceedings.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as filing, copying, data entry, and billing responsibilities.
  • Maintain confidentiality and uphold the firm’s ethical standards.

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree or higher.
  • A minimum of five years of civil litigation experience.
  • Familiarity with e-filing systems, PACER, and court procedures in Texas.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), including drafting Tables of Contents and Table of Authorities and document templates (e.g. discovery responses, briefs, and motions).
  • Familiarity with document management software (Net Docs) and case management/document management platform (Clio) is preferred but not required.
  • High level of professionalism, integrity, and discretion in handling confidential information.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive collaborative relationships with colleagues, clients, and external partners.
